General Questions

Q: I have designed my own cover for my book, and would like to use it, will this be possible?


A: Yes, you have the liberty to design and use your own book cover! Our graphic artists will look over your cover to ensure everything is good to go with your book sizing and meets all of our printers requirements.




Q: Does Holy Fire Publishing work with authors outside the United states?


A: Yes! We work with many authors all over the world. They come from different countries like UK, South Africa and Australia, and many more.




Q: Is there a way or tool used to keep track of the book sales?


A: Yes! Once your book is published, you will get access an account where your book sales will be reported. This account will also be where you pay your annual digital catalog fee.




Q: It has been a while since my book was published. Can I still make some changes with it?


A: Yes! Changes can be made to your book interior and the content and cover. There will be a $250 fee for an interior book revision and a $350 fee for a book cover revision. Q: Can I still cancel my book with your company?


A: Yes. You can cancel your book with us at anytime. Just please give us a 30-day notice.




Q: Which genres does your publishing accept?


A: We publish many different genres. We release fiction, non-fiction, stories, biographies, etc. Our main goal is to glorify God with everything that we publish.

Q: Do you also publish non-English books?


A: We welcome the idea of publishing books with specific languages. However, for now, we would prefer English language. We believe that books written in English reach a wider audience across cultures and nationality. But, in the case where you have already published a book with us that is written in English and would like the same book to be published in another language then we would be happy to consider that.




Q: What type of pictures can be used in my book?


A: It depends on the book you are publishing. If you opt for a black and white book, then all of your pictures will be greyscale photos. If it is a colored book, you can then use both --colored and black and white. It is recommended that all pictures are 300 dpi. This will ensure the best quality for your book.




Q: Can you edit my pictures to make them look better?


A: It is recommended that all pictures be a minimum of 300 dpi in order for them to look good in print. If they happen to be lower than that, then, the pictures may look grainy. When your book is formatted, by our publishing specialist, it will be sized to fit the page, or section, in the book to your liking. Also, if the book is a black and white book, your pictures will be converted to greyscale photos. Beyond that, there is no further editing done by HFP.




Q: Why are there so many blank pages within my book and at the end, as well?


A: Each new chapter or special page such as Acknowledgements, Dedications, etc are always on odd pages (right-hand side of the book). This is optional, but we think it makes the book look more professional. If this is not what you want, just let your publishing specialist know how you like it and we will do our best to make it happen. Also, our printer needs a minimum of two blank pages at the end of the book, with the last page being an even numbered page.




Q: Do you publish Christian fiction?


Yes we do. However, we are not going to publish any book that is contrary to the gospel and Christian beliefs.




Q: How long have you been publishing Christian books?


We have been working with Christian authors to spread God's word through the printed word since 2003.




Q: I can no longer login to my account. What should I do?


When logging into your account, please put in your email address instead of your username, and then your password. If you still can't login after that, please let us know and we will get back to you as soon as we can.




Q: Do you publish crime and mystery, which comprises of murders, corruption, greed, and crude use of power?


We do publish crime and mystery, however we do not publish graphic violence, torture, foul language etc. and/or anything that is contrary to the gospel and Christian beliefs.





Publishing Process

Q: How many printed books can a customer order once the publishing process is done?


A: Since we are an on demand publisher, books are ordered and sent out to customers as they are purchased. Once publishing is complete, customers can already purchase your book online. There are no limits in terms of number of books can be purchased.




Q: How long will it take to publish my book?


A: It typically takes 30 to 60 days to publish a book. That time can vary depending on email response time. Other services added in the middle of the process may affect the timeframe, too.




Q: Is there anything else needed to publish my book, that is not included in the publishing packages?


A: Everything you need to publish a book is already included in our publishing packages. You do not need to purchase anything else from other companies. We also offer editing and typing services for a separate cost.




Q: If I have a revision, how many free books will I receive?


A: There are no free books with revisions. Free books only come with publishing packages.




Q: Can I add an e-Book option after I publish my book? Or should it be added before the publishing?


Once your book has finished the publishing process, you will be able to add-on any services at anytime! Days, months, or even years later.




Q: What types of Editing options do you offer?

Q: Do you have a package only for e-book publication?


Not at the moment. We do hope to expand and extend our services in the future, but for now we only offer ebook as an add-on to one of our publishing packages.




Q: Once my book is published, do I have to pay anything else?


The only thing you need to maintain is the annual Digital Catalog Fee $19.99. the annual digital catalog fee to keep the book available for printing, and distribution. This is covered in the publishing agreement. This is not our fee, but one the printers require in order to keep the book available.




Q: If I cancel my book with, when will it be in effect?


Once we have cancelled your book, no new copies will be available for purchase anymore. Bookstores who have already purchased your book will still be trying to sell them, and you may still see your book online. This could take a couple of weeks, or more.




Q: What does “Non exclusive contract” exactly mean?


With our non exclusive contract, this means that at anytime, you as the author can cancel your contract with us, and go with another publisher. We do not require you to stay with us under contract for years like some other publishers do.




Q: Do I send my completed manuscript digitally or via mail?


Once we have payment for your package, our publishing specialist will contact you to get your manuscript. The quickest way is to send your manuscript online through email.However you can send your manuscript through mail, however we would need to create a digital file if it is hand written or printed out. There will be a fee for that service.




Q: I sent in my publishing agreement a while ago but would like to make some changes before I choose and pay for a package.


You can definitely change that information, before or after you pay. Our publishing specialist will work with you on what you would like for your book, and can change that information for you during the formatting process.





Cost, Payment and Royalty related questions

Q: How much royalties will I receive with each book sold?


A: You will get to choose what your royalty amount is based on a few factors We have a Royalty Calculator which you can use to determine the price and royalty for your book. Our Royalty Calculator can be accessed via https://www.holyfirepublishing.com/royalty-calculator




Q: When will I receive my royalties?


A: We update book sales and send out royalty checks every quarter. We require at least a $20 balance in royalties before mailing out the checks.




Q: Can I order copies of my book to sell? If so, will there be a discount?


A: Yes, you can order copies of your book directly through us at a discounted rate. Simply send us an email at orders@holyfirepublishing.com with your address and how many copies you want to order. There is no minimum book count needed to place an orders.




Q: Will I get any free copies of my book when I purchase a publishing package?

Q: Are there any other fees I need to pay aside from the publishing package costs?


A: The only fee we require after publishing has been completed, is the annual digital catalog fee that costs $19.99. This is also required by our printer and distributor to keep your book available for print.




Q: What happens when the annual digital catalog fee has not been paid?


A: It is a standard procedure that a book is cancelled without the annual digital catalog fee to keep the book available for printing, and distribution. You will receive multiple emails about the fee. If no action has been made, then, that will be the time for the book to be cancelled.




Q: Can I reactivate my book if it gets cancelled?


A: Yes. you will can activate your book again for a fee of $150.00 dollars.




Q: Can you publish a book first and just deduct the publishing fee in my books’ royalties?


A: Unfortunately, we do not have that kind of option for authors right now. However, we do have payment plans so you can get started soon.




Q: Why do I have to pay for a book revision?


A: Our printer requires payment every time we upload a new manuscript or cover. We also have to re-engage our publishing specialist or graphic designer to work on the revision. This is part of the reason why we charge a revision fee. Once a manuscript gets a final approval, the book files get closed. If there is a need for revision, we must reopen the working file and recreate another print ready file.




Q: What's the pricing and entire process of publishing with you?


We are a Christian publishing business, that has a team of publishing specialists, graphic artists, editors and managers working hard to turn your manuscript into a good-looking book ready for purchase. We offer three different publishing packages for you to choose for your book. We also have add-on services if you need editing or marketing with your book. Q: Do you charge per page?


We do not charge per page, we take a different approach by offering three different publishing packages for you to choose for your book. It doesn't matter how many pages are in your book.




Q: Can you publish my book first and then just deduct the publishing package price from my book's royalties?


We are currently not set up to publish books without a downpayment. Since we give you as the author the power to set your own price and discount, and keep all royalties made on your book, we must charge a fee to get your book published and distributed out to the world.




Q: Can you send my book royalties directly to my foundation, organization, church or company?


For security purposes, we only send out royalty checks to the author, and no other person, company, or program. You as the author can do what you would like with your check after you receive it.




Q: Does your packages cover printing costs or just the publishing and marketing process?


All of our packages included publishing and distribution. We turn your manuscript into a good looking print ready book for purchase. Q: How will I send payments for the publishing package and other add ons?


We accept multiple forms of payment. We use Paypal, Checks, our online store, Bank Transfers, Money Grams, and Western Union.




Q: Do you give advice, guidelines or suggestions for new authors about the pricing and royalties of their book?


We can certainly will recommend prices and royalties for your book. Our publishing specialist will be able to help answer those questions for you once we get started.
